It’s time to nominate our exceptional international students

06 June 2025

Help us recognise the impact and importance of a vibrant student cohort in the 2025 International Student Awards.

HOW TO APPLY

Nominations are now open for the 2025 Waitaha Canterbury International Student Awards, which recognise the outstanding contributions international students make to the social, cultural and economic life of Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Open to students from all education providers, the awards shine a light on the diverse ways international students enrich our communities, create connections, and help shape a vibrant, globally minded city.

Christchurch is proud to be a welcoming place where international students can thrive – both in their studies and their lives beyond the classroom. As they pursue world-class education, they also bring new perspectives, foster cross-cultural understanding, and strengthen our ties with the world.

Nominations close 5pm on Wednesday 9 July 2025. Shortlisted students will be invited to attend the mayor’s awards on Thursday 7 August at Ngā Hau E Whā National Marae.
