Entry requirements

Admission to UC with University Entrance (or equivalent) is required to enrol.

If English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.

Subjects and courses

The Certificate is made up of the following courses:

• CRJU101 Introduction to Criminal Justice

Plus one course chosen from:

• MAOR108 Te Patu a Maui: The Treaty of Waitangi – facing and overcoming colonisation
• MAOR120 He Takere Waka Nui
• MAOR165 Tuakiri: Culture and Identity

Plus another three courses chosen from these options.

Further study

The CertCJ is a good pathway into the full Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree.

Career opportunities

Graduates will be equipped with a unique qualification that will prepare them for a career in the criminal justice fields, in particular roles within police and the justice sector.

The Certificate is also relevant for work in other areas of government including prisons, probation and parole; criminal justice policy; forensics; public and private investigation and security; and social work.
