Health Sciences

Introduction

An increasingly complex healthcare sector needs those who can combine physiology and biology with a broader understanding of public health.

If you want a strong scientific foundation to meet challenges such as aging populations, infectious diseases and technological innovations in healthcare, then this could be the subject for you.

For the major in the Bachelor of Health, complete the following courses:

  • HLTH113 Anatomy and Physiology II
  • BCHM111 Cellular Biology and Biochemistry

200-level

  • HLTH213 Health Systems and Policy
Plus one course chosen from these options:
  • HLTH215 Human Development Across the Lifecourse
  • SPCO209 Exercise Physiology
  • BIOL213 Microbiology
  • BIOL253 Cell Biology I

300-level

  • HLTH312 Health Planning, Implementation and Evaluation
  • HLTH317 Behaviour Change in Nutrition and Physical Activity
  • SPCO309 Applied Exercise Physiology OR BIOL351 Cell Biology 2

 

Health Science minor

You can complete the minor in the Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Digital Screen, Health, Product Design, Science, Social and Environmental Sustainability, Sport, or Youth and Community Leadership.

Choose 75 points from the following courses, with at least 45 points above 100 level:

  • BCHM111 Cellular Biology and Biochemistry
  • HLTH112 Anatomy and Physiology I
  • HLTH113 Anatomy and Physiology II

200-level
