Dr Jude Bautista is a senior lecturer in the Child Well-being Research Institute at the University of Canterbury. He is the Programme Co-ordinator for the BSLA Structured Literacy PLD course for teachers in Years 4- 8.
Dr Bautista is an experienced facilitator of teachers’ learning in the areas of language, literacy, reading comprehension and supporting culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
He has a background as a primary school teacher in the Philippines teaching English language to speakers of other languages (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, and Filipino students).
Dr Bautista speaks several languages and is leading work in our BSLA PLD in supporting teachers implement structured literacy teaching in ways that accelerate learning for English Language Learners.
